The first satellite of the satellite 'Bangabandhu-1' was launched at 2:00 pm on Saturday night.

From the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the US company sailed into orbit with SpaceX's latest rocket Falcon-1 satellite. Minister of State for Information and Communications Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak was present there. He confirmed to BBC Bangla, "The satellite has been successfully launched and has sent signals to the ground."

The satellite can be seen in the clear skies of Florida for about seven minutes.

The delegation witnessed the launch of the satellite, along with State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak, Advisor to Prime Minister's Information Technology Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

State Minister of State for ICT, Junaid Ahmed Polak, who witnessed the launch from Florida, said, "Bangabandhu-1 is also a timely initiative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, which has a vision to build digital Bangladesh by 2021.

Many Bangladeshis living in different countries of the world also witnessed the live broadcast and webcast of the satellite launch.

Earlier on Friday, it was final at the launch, but at the last minute, the launch was halted.

SpaceX said it was working on multiple teams to launch it on Saturday.

With the launch of this satellite, Bangladesh has achieved the status of the 5th country in the world of artificial satellite.

The satellite will increase the country's ability to forecast and monitor weather to deal with natural disasters. The satellite will be able to take advantage of SAARC countries as well as Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and a portion of Kazakhstan.

The satellite was first scheduled to launch on December 7, 2006. But due to Hurricane Irma, its launch was postponed.

BTRC signed a $ 25 million contract with Thales Alenia Space Facilities Company in France on November 27 to build the country's first satellite. After the company completed the construction of the satellite a few months ago, it was kept at the Cannes Warehouse in France. The satellite was later transferred to Florida on March 25.

On January 27, Bangladesh purchased the orbital slots at Dragimah (Slot) at a rate of $ 2 million for the launch of the Bangabandhu-1 satellite from the Russian satellite company InterSputnik.
